October is Fire Prevention Month If a fire occurred in your home tonight would your family get out safely?  A fast, pre-planned escape is critical to survival.  There are no second chances in a fire.  Follow these simple steps: Test your smoke alarms - every month! Discuss with everyone in your home how each person will get out in a fire & practice your plan! Know two ways out of each room, if possible. Volunteers Needed in Batawa Sacred Heart Catholic School is looking for volunteers from the community to come in and be part of a reading program for our students from Grade 1 to 4 one or two days a week. Interested community members should come into the school to obtain a letter for their Police Records Check and meet with the Principal. We are looking to start the program at the end of October, so please don’t delay if you can help out! The Batawa Lions are looking for a few good helpers this winter! Batawa Volunteer Recognized by City Hall On March 6th, longtime Batawa resident, Aubrie Labrie was presented with the 2017 Volunteer Excellence Award by the City of Quinte West. Aubrie volunteers countless hours each week assembling, restoring and showcasing planes at the National Air Force Museum in Trenton.
